Algeria and the United Kingdom have agreed to improve training of English language trainers, and mainly education inspectors, the ministry of National Education said Thursday in a statement.
National Education Minister Nouria Benghabrit and UK Ambassador Andrew Noble, accompanied by British Council officials, tackled at a meeting Wednesday bilateral cooperation in education and how to boost it.
The two sides broached relevant actions taken so far, especially for the promotion of English teaching and learning in Algerian schools, according to the statement.
Discussions also focused on the ways and methods to reach such a "major" goal.
Examining the actions under the five-year programme (2009-2014) and those contained in the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) concluded in 2013, the two sides agreed to extend cooperation to intermediary, secondary and university education "for a better meeting of the needs expressed in recommendations made during exploration missions in 2012 and 2013."
