The Abu Dhabi Education Council, ADEC, has organised an "After School Support Programme" for students for the 2015/2016 academic school year, in efforts to raise the overall quality of education across public schools, .
The programme targets Cycle 2 and Cycle 3 (Grades 8 to 12) school students who are in need of significant improvement, as well as Grades 11 and 12 high achieving students. Top performing teachers across public schools with an evaluation score higher than 91 have been selected to teach the students.
Mohamed Al Dhaheri, Executive Director of ADEC's School Operations Division, explained that the council is doing all it can to elevate the level of education on a par with international standards and in line with ADEC's mission to graduate a competent well equipped task force of youth.
"ADEC has confidence in its students, which is why we are offering extra mentoring to those who require further assistance from some of the most qualified teachers in our schools. On the other hand, the council realises that many other students are of high calibre and require advanced teaching skills and special mentoring attention. For that reason, we have created the After School Programme, which happens to coincide with our eagerness to enhance Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics skills among all pupils," said Mr. Al Dhaheri.
Speaking about the operational aspect of the programme, Al Dhaheri explained that 130 schools are taking part in the initiative across the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
