One hundred male and female secondary students from the Kingdom completed their summer training under a leadership development program at Harvard University, according to Saudi Press Agency.
The students spent seven weeks under an initiative of the Mohammad bin Salman bin Abdul Aziz Foundation, known as the MiSK Foundation, under the sponsorship of Saudi Aramco. They participated in the training program at the law college at Harvard in the presence of Badar Al-Asakir, secretary-general of the MiSK Foundation, Mark Eliot, vice chancellor of Harvard University, and Mohammad Issa, cultural attaché of the Kingdom in the United States.
Out of 800 seats, the MiSK Foundation has booked 12.5 percent of the seats for Saudi students. For this program, students from 50 countries competed. The program aimed at preparing students and informing them about university life, giving them information about this university, telling them about the tools and planning skills for the future, helping them to be ready for various areas of knowledge in the future. It is one of the most respected program in the world for which 7,000 students from various countries competed for its 800 seats.
Musaed Al-Ahmad, adviser of the leadership development program at the MiSK Foundation, said that the program went according to plan. The number of male and female students, who have shown interest in the program, reached 60,000. After evaluations, 100 were shortlisted.
He said that the MiSK Foundation has given students an opportunity to gain knowledge and experience. The students who participated in the program were from secondary school.
Mohammad Al-Saqqaf, deputy chairman of Saudi Aramco for operations and training, said the company would continue to support various activities of the MiSK Foundation. He congratulated students for their excellent performance.
Eliot said that the program gives students an opportunity to come back for studies in any of its colleges. He said that Harvard University has a large number of students from various countries of the Middle East.
The leadership development program of the MiSK Foundation aims to empower society for learning and developing in various fields including in art, culture, business and technology. It believes that education is important for revival of the nation and its progress.
