Total E&P Yemen announced on Monday the selection of eleven Yemeni recipients of TOTAL Scholarship Programme for the year 2014.In a press release, Total E&P Yemen said that the scholarship application process challenged more than 550 applicants to pass the scholarship examinations and interviews in which the students were also assessed in the way their expressed educational goals will reflect their personality and ambitions.Mr. Elias Kassis, Managing Director of Total E&P Yemen and Group Representative, presented Scholarship Award Certificates to all the students.“TOTAL believes that higher education is important to the future of Yemen and its young people. We greatly value the strategic relations we have with the Government and the people of Yemen”, Kassis said.“We are pleased to assist these deserving students through these Bachelor Degree Scholarships which will provide them with the knowledge that is essential and supportive for their personal and professional growth. I congratulate all of the winners and wish them great success while they pursue their academic goals.”The scholarship winners will be trained in English and French languages prior to departure to France and the United Kingdom at the end of this year.The winners will pursue Bachelor Degree of Science in the fields of Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Energy Engineering, and Chemical & Energy Engineering, and Earth Science (Geophysics or Geology).TOTAL is the operator of Block 10 and Block 72 in Hadramout as well as Block 70 and Block 3 in Shabwa. The Company holds also several other participations in oil exploration and production blocks.It is also the largest shareholder in the Yemen LNG Project with a participation of 39.6 percent. Present in Yemen for more than 25 years, TOTAL contributes to the social and economic development of the country and in the areas where we operate, particularly local communities.
