The oldest Indian school in Dubai, the Indian High School (IHS), which turned 51, has earned an ‘outstanding\' rating in this year\'s school inspections conducted by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), Gulf News has learnt. For the first time since the KHDA initiated school inspections four years ago, two schools offering the Indian curriculum have bagged the top rating this year — the Indian High School, which follows the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) curriculum, and Dubai Modern High School, which follows the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) curriculum. The KHDA inspected 21 schools offering the Indian curriculum this year, of which two schools received the ‘outstanding\' rating, Fatma Belrehif, spokeswoman for the Dubai Schools Inspection Bureau at KHDA told Gulf News. The school inspection results are expected to be officially announced only in February 2012. Article continues below Involving parents \"This year, for the first time, school principals can share inspection results with parents if they choose to. We hope this will encourage an open conversation about the school\'s strengths and areas that need improvement. However, guidelines exist for their use for marketing purposes,\" Belrehif said. Expressing his joy at the numero uno rating, Indian High School chairman Mohan G. Valrani said in a letter addressed to parents: \"This classification is the highest so far awarded to any school in Dubai and the pleasure it gives me is beyond expression. The students, teaching and administrative staff of the school are justly deserving of our highest praise and most grateful thanks for all the effort they put into their work.\" Dubai Modern High School, meanwhile, announced having secured an ‘outstanding\' rating at the institution\'s silver jubilee celebrations last week.
