Higher Education Minister Khaled Al-Anqari yesterday signed contracts worth more than SR1 billion to carry out a number of construction projects at Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University in Riyadh and King Khaled University in Abha. The projects at Imam University include the construction of new buildings and facilities for the girls campus, the Saudi Press Agency said. A sports city will be constructed at King Khaled University’s new campus in Faraa, including a stadium to accommodate 10,000 spectators. “The new contracts have been signed as part of the ministry’s efforts to complete infrastructure facilities for Saudi universities and create an integrated academic environment,” said Al-Anqari. He said the new campuses are designed to meet the requirements of students and teachers. He thanked Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah for his continuous support for the promotion of higher education. Earlier this year, the minister signed a number of contracts worth more than SR4 billion to implement university projects including university hospitals, academic buildings and service facilities.
