The Bahrain International Retail and Development Centre (BIRDC) has organised, in cooperation with Tamkeen, the graduation ceremony of the second batch of Apprenticeship scheme in Retail students. The ceremony marks the conclusion of the training of 399 Bahrainis in the Retail Sector and their employment in the labour market. Tamkeen’s Director of Human Resources Development Amal Kohaji and BIRD’s Adel Riddha, as well as officials from both sides and parents attended the ceremony. The top three graduates were recognized for their outstanding efforts. The first, Ali Mahmoud Ali, received a plaque of appreciation, BD500, and a two-week training in Jordan for further improvement of retailing skills. The second, Mahmoud Jaafar Abdulla, received BD350 while the third, Jamila Adel, got BD200. BIRDC started the program in March 2009 with the support of Tamkeen. The aim of the program is to train 1500 Bahrainis in the different areas of the Retail sector. The training runs for three months, which is divided into two months of theory and one month on-the-job training. At the end of the training, trainees get a Certificate in Retail from City & Guilds, an international award-giving body. The trainees are also placed in regular jobs. Type the text here
