As part of its ongoing corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme, RasGas Company Limited (RasGas) hosted a luncheon for some 12 American teachers who are in Qatar for the fourth annual Teachers Educating Across Cultures in Harmony (TEACH) fellowship programme. Teach is a cultural exchange tour of Middle East organised by the Bilateral US-Arab Chamber of Commerce (BUSACC). The programme, offered to primary and secondary school educators selected from across the US, provided participants with the unique opportunity to visit Middle Eastern countries and Qatar, with insights on culture, tradition, education and society. During the luncheon held at RasGas headquarters, RasGas Employee Development and Welfare group manager Erhama al-Kaabi said: “RasGas is keen to foster initiatives that build bridges for cultural understanding and so we are very pleased to host TEACH educators for the third consecutive year in Qatar. This initiative empowers participants with first-hand knowledge of the country’s multi-faceted development and enriches them with an experience of the region’s cultures that we are actively supporting by gathering here today.” Houston, Texas-based BUSACC’s managing director Aida Araissi said: “Educators in the US will benefit greatly from learning how their counterparts in other parts of the world address these issues. They can bring back what they’ve learned into the classroom and better prepare the next generation for an increasingly complex world.” RasGas regards social responsibility as integral to its business and implements a proactive CSR programme, which is aligned to the Qatar National Vision 2030. The Teach teachers’ five-day stay in Qatar includes visit to key educational institutions and landmark cultural destinations around Doha.
