A Qatar Leadership Centre (QLC) delegation has concluded a 10-day study tour of the Chinese cities of Beijing, Ordos and Tianjin. The delegation, included more than 30 recent Qataris graduates, was led by QLC Strategy and Performance director Khaled el-Gohary. HEC Paris, one of the world’s most prestigious business schools, organised lectures, meetings and activities for the delegation. At lectures by Chinese government officials and business leaders, team members obtained information about China’s economic, trade and public sectors so as to provide the future leaders of Qatar with valuable insights. The China tour began in Beijing on June 18, with lectures on urban planning given by State Council Development Research Centre’s associate researcher Niu Xiong and Sino-France Urban Sustainable Development Project consultant Fan Haoyi. The delegation then visited the Sinohydro Corporation Limited for a panel discussion with the corporation’s leaders, including executive vice president Hou Xiaotun. The next stop of the study tour was in Ordos, an industrial centre in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, and a meeting with the city’s mayor and president of Ordos Water Treatment Plant. The delegation also took a half-hour trip by high-speed railway on a visit to Tianjin, approximately 120km southeast from Beijing, for a tour of the Tianjin Economic Development Area.
