The Dubai Municipality (DM) will focus on getting Emiratis in jobs this year in accordance with the directives of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The announcement was made by Khalid Abdul Rahim, Municipality Human Resources Department director. He said that based on the memorandum of understanding between Dubai Municipality and the Ministry of Education, a team from the municipality had visited select Dubai secondary schools in order to educate the national students about the opportunities awaiting them. “The areas of cooperation between DM and MoE include guiding the students regarding the jobs available in various areas of municipal work, setting a programme to regularly visit secondary schools, arranging visits for students to various departments of DM and areas of work,” Khalid said. “The talent hunting team of the municipality recently visited 16 higher secondary schools and met with around 1,400 students shedding light on the plans and programmes of the Municipality to accommodate the future generation. Majority of the students expressed their interest in joining the summer vacation training programme of the civic body to have an experience in their respective fields,” he said. He said the number of students participating in training programmes had increased ‘notably’ every year, which showed students were interested in public sector work. “Currently the municipality has been receiving hundreds of students every year through its summer training program which gives an excellent result as many of the participants later select the municipality or other government departments for their future career.” From KhaleejTimes
