Mahd Al Uloom Int’l School Edubition 2011 — a two-day science exhibition — was visited by record crowds at the school during the last weekend. With a challenge to present scientific models based on the theme “Science and Technology for Challenges of Life,” students showcased a variety of scientific innovations including drip irrigation models to conserve water, sustainable farming methods, pathetic condition of Kerala’s Mullaperiyar Dam, a dinosaur, and a laughing head. The “edubition” had special stalls for IT, mathematics, Islamic, health and social studies, Saudi heritage etc. Faiz Ahmad Kidwai, the consul general of India, inaugurated the event. The chief guest was received with a guard of honor by school’s scout team. Abdul Sathar, principal of MIS Jeddah, welcomed guests. Abdu Rabb, the director and board member, presided over the function. Yahiya Noorani, manager of the school, Maimoona Ali Beevi, vice principal and Muhammad Basheer appreciated and congratulated those who worked to make the “edubition” a success. Abdullah Mohammed Khan was selected as the best scientist of the year from boys’ section and Mariam Rasheeda from girls’ section. Abdul Rasheed (boys) and Safa (girls) were declared the best architects of the year. The prizes were distributed by the chief guest. Mansoor Ali, the academic coordinator, proposed a vote of thanks.
