Amman - PETRA

Malaysian Ambassador to Jordan Dato’ Abdul Malek Bin Abdul Aziz hailed the steadily growing ties between Jordan and Malaysia, especially in the education sector. Abdul Aziz told “Petra” that 3 thousands Malaysian students are pursuing their higher education at Jordanian universities, noting that more than 1330 students are heading to Jordan this year with an increase of 50% compared to last year. “This significant increase is due to the distinctive bilateral relations and the quality of education in the Kingdom” he added. He said that both countries’ educational cooperation extends to include lecturers exchange, Memoranda of Understandings, universities’ agreements and holding specialized courses for senior staff. The envoy also pointed that Malaysia will host the first Arab-Malaysian Global Higher Education Summit where participants will get together to discuss issues related to education quality, promotion and accreditation methods and establishment of scientific research centers. In response to a question on bilateral training and technical development cooperation, he said that his government sealed an agreement with Jordan to train more than 300 government sector employees through specialized training courses to obtain the PhD degree. ” The program is fully funded by the Malaysian government with 20-25 employees enrolled every year” he said.
