Croatian President Dr Ivo Josipovic visiting Qatar Robotics Surgery Centre yesterday Croatian President Dr Ivo Josipovic has lauded the giant leaps in scientific discovery Qatar has achieved through unique models of international collaboration, including the work of organisations such as Qatar Science and Technology Park (QSTP). President Josipovic visited QSTP yesterday and toured its facilities as part of his official visit to Qatar. On his tour, the Croatian president and his delegation also visited Qatar Robotics Surgery Centre (QRSC), a focal point of world class expertise in robotic surgery development, training and simulation, where they expressed keen interest in possible avenues of co-operation with major healthcare institutions in Croatia. President Josipovic and his delegation also visited the premises of the Williams F1 team and spoke to their management about their experiences in Qatar, as a member of QSTP and the advantages of the unique platform it offers for applied research and technology development. Speaking on his impressions of the QSTP tour, Dr Josipovic said: “I am truly impressed by the giant leaps in scientific discovery Qatar has managed to achieve through unique models of international collaboration, including the work of organisations such as QSTP. Croatia is eager to take part in some of these initiatives and to engage our researchers and scientists in learning from Qatar’s experience. As a statesman, I can truly say that it is admirable how Qatar is wisely investing in its future generations by effectively deploying its vast revenues from hydrocarbon resources today.” Qatar Science and Technology Park is the national agency charged with executing applied research and delivering commercialised technologies in four themed areas, Energy, Environment, Health Sciences and Information and Communication Technologies. QSTP is located in Qatar Foundation’s Education City and has access to the resources of its cluster of leading research universities. In addition to QSTP’s centres, members include small companies, international corporations and research institutions, which have together committed to funding new ventures and creating intellectual property.
