The Crown Prince’s International Scholarship Program (CPISP) held a presentation today for private school students at the Ministry of Education Hall about the application process for its 2014 scholarships. It was attended by students from various private schools who met the Program’s application criteria. CPISP Director Dr. Cynthia Gessling announced that the Program will start accepting applications beginning 10 February 2013 and that the 2014 scholarship application deadline will be 28 February 2013. She explained that students who meet the application criteria must submit their applications during this period to the Court of the Crown Prince in Riffa between 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. (Sun. – Thursday), and then take a qualifying English language which will be administered by the CPISP (date, time and venue will be announced on the CPISP website: www.cpisp.bh) Dr. Cynthia affirmed that the application criteria for 2014 scholarships requires applicants to be enrolled in the 11th grade (or equivalent) and set to graduate from secondary school in 2014, have a cumulative GPA of 97% or above for grade 10 and the first semester of grade 11, and have Bahraini citizenship. Dr. Cynthia went on to brief the students about the Program’s selection process and training programs for scholarship candidates. She explained that 60 candidates will be selected based on their GPAs and results of the qualifying English language test, and who will include 40 candidates from Ministry of Education schools, and 20 candidates from private schools. The 60 candidates will then undergo various training courses and programs which will run through the summer and the following academic year, before the final ten scholarship recipients are selected. Dr. Cynthia wished the students success in applying for the Program’s 10 annual scholarships, which will be awarded to 6 Ministry of Education school students, and 4 private school students.
