Doha - Arabstoday

Qatar University’s College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) and the Qatar Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital (Aspetar) have signed a memorandum of understanding, with the objective of providing clinical training and supervised practical experience for students of the college’s ‘Human Nutrition’ and ‘Sport Science’ programmes. QU vice president and chief financial officer Dr Humaid al-Midfaa and National Programme of Sports Medicine executive manager Abdul Rahman al-Qahtani were the signatories. CAS dean Dr Eiman Mustafawi said the MoU provides students with the unique opportunity to be mentored by leading experts in the field of sports medicine. “It builds on our objective to provide them with quality education in the form of expert training and mentoring that would contribute to their personal and professional development,” she added.   Al-Qahtani said that Aspetar provides the highest possible medical treatment for sports-related injuries in a state-of-the-art facility, staffed by some of the world’s leading sports medicine practitioners and researchers. “Our dedicated staff combine leading methodologies with state-of-the-art technology to provide athletes with strong health, physical management and performance strategies. Our collaboration with Qatar University is a milestone for Aspetar and we extend our fullest support to the students in their academic journey,” he said. From gulf times.
