The Big East Conference plans to invite as many as six schools into the league in hopes of rebuilding its football membership, the New York Post reported. Syracuse and Pittsburgh have left the Big East for the Atlantic Coast Conference and TCU abandoned the league before ever becoming a part of it, choosing instead to join the Big 12. That leaves the Big East with six football-playing schools. Citing sources it did not name, the newspaper said Friday the league is set to invite Boise State, Air Force, Navy and Central Florida into its membership. The report said Houston, SMU and Temple would be considered for two other invitations. Those schools still playing football in the Big East are Cincinnati, Connecticut, Louisville, Rutgers, South Florida and West Virginia.
