Two teenagers were hurt in an explosion at a secondary school in Russia’s North Caucasian republic of Dagestan, a spokesman for the North Caucasian regional emergencies centre told Itar-Tass on Monday. According to the spokesman, the accident took place at a secondary school in the settlement of Karata, Akhvakhsky district, at 12:20 Moscow time. The blast was caused by a detonator of an explosive device. “Two pupils shirked classes in physical culture. Having locked themselves in an empty classroom, they closed the detonator of an explosive device to a mobile phone battery, which caused a blast,” thr spokesman said. The teenagers got fragmentation wounds of their faces, hands, chests and were taken to a local hospital. Medics say the boys are in condition of medium gravity. “No fire followed the explosion. The building of the school was not damaged,” the spokesman added.
