Secretary General of the Islamic Research Academy (IRA) Mohyiddin Afifi said the academy would launch a live transmission channel on YouTube next week for the first time.
In a statement, Afifi said the channel is part of the efforts exerted by the Grand Imam of Al Azhar Ahmed el-Tayeb to restore the leading role of Al Azhar and within the framework of of Al Azhar's plan to renew the religious discourse with the aim of highlighting the moderation and tolerance of Islam in the face of extremist groups.
He said the new channel will transmit in English, French, Spanish, Russian and Urdu, in addition to some African languages.
