Millions of Twitter users were blocked from their feeds on Tuesday as the social networking site went down for over an hour in several countries.
"Some users are currently experiencing problems accessing Twitter. We are aware of the issue and are working towards a resolution," the site said.
A spokesperson for Twitter Europe confirmed the outage, while users in South Africa, Brazil, the Philippines, Nigeria and Uganda also reported problems accessing the site with the hashtag #twitterdown on Facebook.
After about an hour the platform was back on line in London and Paris, but its Tweetdeck application was still down. Problems were however still being experienced elsewhere such as Russia
