Security forces have dispersed the gathered crowd in front of Al-Ahram's offices but are maintaing a heavy presence.Central Security Forces and military police, along with head Hamdy Badeen, continue to surround the state-run newspaper's headquarters. The low-ranking police officer, responsible for killing the runaway prisoner, reportedly remains in hiding. An escaped prisoner was shot dead, according to eye witnesses, by a low-ranking police officer, who opened fire when the prisoner attempted to flee towards Al-Ahram's headquarters. In the process, a security guard was shot in the leg. Family members and those present at the court session surrounded Al-Ahram's main entrance, demanding the hand over of the police officer, who hid inside the newspaper's headquarters. Ahram Online reporters say they did not see any of the family members holding guns. The prisoner escaped while being transferred from the Galaa Court Complex, accompanied by a lower-ranking officer, who started firing to stop him from running. A stray bullet hit Nasser Abdel-Halim, an Al-Ahram security guard in his 30s. Abdel-Halim was transferred to Al-Helal Hospital nearby for treatment. Earlier, angry relatives and friends of the prisoner burned tyres to block off Galaa Street, where Al-Ahram's offices are located, and thew stones at the security forces.
