The Middle East News Agency (MENA) agreed to join a new UN alliance aiming at boosting gender equality.
MENA editor-in-chief and board chairman Alaa Haider said Egypt's state news agency received an invitation from the UN Women organization to join the new alliance that will group a number of media institutions.
MENA will work as one of the alliance's media partners that will shed light on women-related issues and enhance media efforts for gender equality, he added.
The new alliance comes within the framework of 2030 sustainable development program that feature an international roadmap for ways of addressing the main challenges in the 21st century like poverty, he said.
