The Ministry of Interior said that it had filed three cases against Sheikh Khalifa Al-Ali, editor-in-chief of Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Watan, in the wake of abusive remarks he made to a state employee and a senior police officer.
His comments were made "the moment security forces, respectfully and objectively, began implementing the state prosecutor's decision enabling the Ministry of Information to close down a private publishing house that was illegally printing Al-Watan newspaper," said a ministry statement.
The law will be applied on all and Interior Ministry personnel will continue assuming their duties, the statement added. It also warned against the obstruction of justice and attempts to prevent security forces from carrying out their duties.
Nobody is above the law, underlined the ministry, and security forces are committed to implementing this on everyone.
