Vietnamese official media have hailed the visit of the country's General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Nguyen Phu Trong to China, which kicks off on Tuesday.
"The visit is aimed at building up momentum for the healthy development of bilateral relations, particularly in the context of diplomatic ties entering their 65th year," Vietnam's state-run news agency VNA said on Tuesday.
Trong is visiting China from Tuesday to Friday at the invitation of General Secretary of the Communist Party of China ( CPC) and Chinese President Xi Jinping. This is the first official visit made by a CPV General Secretary since the 18th CPC National Congress in late 2012.
Also on Tuesday, Vietnam's Nhan Dan (The People), a newspaper of the CPV, runs an article titled "Promoting healthy and stable development of Vietnam-China friendly and cooperative relations."
"As the two countries are organizing many activities to mark the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's visit aims to continue solidifying and maintaining the friendly and stable situation," reads the article.
The traditional friendly and neighborly Vietnam-China relations are an important factor in the victory of each country's revolution, a valuable asset to be passed down, safeguarded and promoted. In the 65 years since the two countries established diplomatic relations, bilateral ties have witnessed ups and downs, but friendship and cooperation have remained the primary theme, reported Nhan Dan.
"May General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's visit to China be a success, contributing to the healthy and stable development of the traditional friendly and neighborly relations and the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and China, for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world," Nhan Dan said in its article.
