MCOT’s Thai News Agency has selected and implemented Aspera’s mobile data transfer solution for Apple iOS and Google Android. Aspera Mobile platform provides high-speed file transfer over mobile networks and enables reporters to use an Aspera-enabled mobile app to upload high-resolution images and video straight from their iOS or Android device. “Aspera’s flexible software architecture and straightforward APIs have made it possible for us to have the Web portal created exactly to our specifications,” said Phairach Santhawe, news technology manager at Thai News Agency. “The simplicity with which we were able to develop the system has allowed us to rapidly deploy Aspera Mobile-enabled devices to well over the initial target of 100 correspondents and staff. The results have been dramatic and exceeded our expectations.” “Following Aspera’s success in helping newsgathering organisations in North America and Europe, we are excited to see Aspera’s mobile technology assisting partners in Asia as well,” said John Wastcoat, vice president at Aspera. “With broad operating support for iOS and Android, we are seeing strong demand throughout our Asia Pacific markets, including Thailand, South East Asia, Japan, Korea and Australia. Because news is such a core piece of our broadcasting partners’ business, where speed in distribution is essential, we are very pleased to be able to help them in such a critical way.”
