Reporters of local and federal media organised in St. Petersburg on Sunday a rally against arrest of Russian photographer Denis Sinyakov, who had been on board of Greenpeace’s Arctic Sunrise. By beginning of the rally /13:00 Moscow time/, about 50 people were in Marsovo Pole, most of them photographers. They expressed protest against the decision of the Murmansk Regional Court as on October 8 it rejected an appeal on Sinyakov’s arrest. On September 18, the Arctic Sunrise vessel belonging to the Greenpeace approached the Prirazlomnaya oil platform. The activists tried to climb on its board. The border guards of the Russian Federal Security Service for the Murmansk region thwarted their actions. The vessel was towed to the Murmansk port. The Murmansk Regional Court sentenced all the Greenpeace activists to two months in prison. They are being kept in custody in several pre-trial detention wards of the Murmansk region.
