This year's contest of the Award for Journalistic Excellence, named after Sheikh Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and patronized by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, has concluded the fourth training course for winners.
Ayman Al-Ali, the head of the award higher committee, said in a statement on Thursday that end of this program coincided with launch of the seventh course for the participants, indicating that there would be activities at veteran media organizations in and outside Kuwait, namely in Arab countries.
The course for the winners in the sixth workshop, held in coordination with the American University, for the first time, had lasted for three days. It involved training on visual media and media translation, integrated marketing communication and applications.
The Award's first course had been held in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), with participation of veteran foreign experts. It focused on development media, training youth on basic skills namely data gathering, preparing reports, analytical writing, composing reports and news features. The course also included training on covering controversial issues and investigative reporting.
Elaborating on the multi-phased training program, Al-Ali said the second and third courses were hosted by the Qatari media network, Al-Jazeera and the Lebanese mass-circulation, An-Nahar.
