Sharjah TV channel has announced that it has begun shooting the first episodes of season three of ‘Sharjah Junior Munshid,’ a chanting contest organised by Sharjah Media Corporation.
The third edition of the talent show will see 64 contestants from Sharjah schools competing over eight episodes, with two participants from each episode, a total of 16, shortlisted for the semi-final. Eight out of these 16 will sing at the concluding night, when the winner of the Sharjah Junior Munshid will be announced.
The shortlisting and qualifying of participants throughout each stage and for the final will be determined by voting from the audience and by deliberations from the judges, with the judging panel made up of vocal artists Ahmed Al Mansouri, Abdullah Al Shehi and Ahmed Al Radhwan. In addition to evaluating the young singers’ performances, the three panel members will be offering the young contestants advice and providing them with tips and encouragement.
Commenting on the announcement, Najm Al Deen Hashem, Executive Producer of Sharjah Junior Munshid, said, "The new season of the Munshid contest draws on the success of its previous editions, which enjoyed widespread popularity with Sharjah Television viewers. We are keen for the third session of the talent show to further Sharjah's message of the importance of promoting original and meaningful art in younger generations."
"This year's edition of the Sharjah Junior Munshid has seen the participation of 750 contestants, up from 450 in the previous season. This reflects the increasing interest in the programme from students, parents and schools teachers, with the third season of the junior talent show attracting promising new talent," he added.
The Sharjah Junior Munshid aims to nurture and support young singers in the emirate, promote meaningful and creative musical genres and discover highly talented youngsters with exceptional vocal skills. The programme has succeeded in highlighting the original art and has contributed to showcasing the traditional form of meaningful singing as being one of the most important musical genres and one that carries sublime messages.
