The International Government Communication Centre (IGCC), a subsidiary of Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB), concluded its interactive sessions conducted at the 36th edition of the Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF), on Thursday.
Themed: ‘Leading Creativity in Government Communication,’ the sessions, held over two consecutive days at the commencement of the fair, addressed novel ways of enhancing critical and creative thinking in order to establish new and inspiring strategies across all fields of government communication.
Conducted by renowned motivational and leadership speaker Kevin Abdulrahman, the sessions featured advanced training methods that revolved around group discussions, critical thinking analyses, communication technique reviews and examinations of how to change ways of thinking. Underpinning the sessions was the notion that ‘creativity is limitless.’ Held on November 1-2, 2017, the sessions formed part of the programme aimed at implementing the recommendations of the International Government Communication Forum (IGCF), underscoring the importance of interactive and innovative communication and organising workshops and training courses that give government communication actors access to the latest international programmes in the field.
Organised for staff in government communication departments, private sector corporate employees, college of communication students and media personnel, the workshops saw Abdulrahman highlight the importance of achieving excellence using innovative ways of thinking, ensuring that the results reflect the quality of ideas. During the sessions he unveiled some of the effective methods and approaches that are implemented by the world’s most creative people and with which they lead their countries, corporations and organisations.
Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council, said, "The IGCC organised this interactive session in line with its commitment to promoting knowledge and developmental skills in this field, as well as with SIBF’s intellectual and cultural approach."
He emphasised that the IGCC is committed to attracting international experts with the aim of furthering the skills and capabilities of media personnel - in particular government communication actors - and educating them in the best practices and experiences in this field.
The Chairman of Sharjah Media Council stressed that the interactive session was instrumental in helping participants learn about diverse ways of thinking and enhancing the critical and creative cognitive process, pointing out that the IGCC’s focus is on implementing world-class professional development training programmes in line with IGCF’s recommendations.
