The Second Gulf Political Media Forum will get underway at the Gulf Hotel Conference Hall tomorrow under the patronage of Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa. It is organised by Bahrain Institute for Political Development (BIPD) under the theme "Media and the Culture of Difference".
An elite of media persons and journalists will take part in the event which aims to boost the culture of difference and pluralism while taking into account the specificity of the Gulf society. The issue of "Media and the Culture of Difference" gains its importance from the current challenges undergone by the region and from the differing visions and ideas vi-a-vis the paths and interplay of events and their repercussions on the future of the region as a whole.
Subsequently, the way the media has been dealing with the fast-paced developments on the local scene now calls for thorough examination and discussion of Gulf media tendencies and visions to come up with an effective national vision, capable of strengthening the cohesion and unity of the communities which are united by a common goal and destiny.
The forum aims to formulate a national Gulf view concerning the role of the media in the management of differences and in prospect of opening broad horizons for a calm and rational dialogue that makes the exchange of ideas on current issues and developments possible.
