Inmates at a Swedish prison sent a letter to the Swedish Prison and Probation Service complaining about the selection of channels on the facility's televisions. The letter, authored by inmates at the Kalmar detention center, said many prisons and jails offer 10-19 television channels, but their facility has only seven, Swedish news agency TT reported Wednesday. "All the Swedish Prison and Probation Service detention centers should offer the same selection," the letter read. However, Bengt Vestberg, head of the Prison and Probation Service for Kalmar, said the channel selection is a matter of cost. "It is a question of the cost, really. By law we are obliged to show the basic selection of SVT1, SVT2 and TV 4 at the center. We have also added Eurosport, CNN and some other channels. We really don't think we should spend any more than that," he told Swedish-language paper Ostran.
