The Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Information Faisal Al-Mutlqem said that the Gulf Cooperation Council Joint program Production Institution is pioneering in media production that serves the cultural and educational purposes.
Speaking at the 29th meeting of the directors of member states' official TV stations, which kicked off Sunday, Al-Mutlqem said the GCCJPPI and other Gulf media institutions have a significant role to play to promote great values such loyalty to homeland, religious tolerance and rejection of extremism.
He stressed that the GCCJPPI's products have educated many generations in the Gulf states.
"Going ahead with the success march, the GCCJPPI needs to focus more on visual or audio products that target all age groups, especially children and young people due to their important role in society building," he said.
He expressed hopes that the conferees would come up with effective recommendations that live up to expectations to help immunize society, especially young people, from the extremist ideas and to preserve Gulf countries' security and stability.
Among the issues to be tackled during the two-day meeting are the GCCJPPI report out the performance of the institution in 2014 and its plan of action for 2015.
