The Media Cooperation Forum on One Belt and One Road kicked off on Tuesday at the Chinese National Convention Center in Beijing under the them of “Joint fate and new horizons for cooperation”.
The forum, attended by 212 main media outlets of world countries, including Egypt, is expected to discuss ways of promoting exchanges and cooperation and achieving development and mutual benefit within the framework of the Chinese Belt and Road initiative that aims to revive the Silk Road.
In a letter to the attendees, Chinese President Xi Jinping welcomed the different world media outlets participating in the event.
Also, the Chinese leader said in his speech, delivered by Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress (NPC) Wang Chen, that his country is working on rejuvenating the Silk Road with the aim of strengthening exchange on policies, fostering trade movement and increasing the flow of capital and bolstering interaction among peoples of world countries.
Furthermore, Xi Jinping asserted that China is ready to work with the countries located along the new Silk Road to open new horizons for cooperation and establish joint projects in main fields.
He expressed his hope that the mass media outlets will make good use of the event to help push forward international ties and increase interaction among peoples in world countries in addition to mutual trust.
A number of Egyptian media figures, including Board Chairman of Al Ahram newspaper Ahmed El Nagar and a representative of the State Information Service (SIS) are participating in the forum.
