Chairman and Director General of Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) Sheikh Mubarak Al-Duaij Al-Ibrahim Al-Sabah has affirmed necessity of boosting cooperation among Arab news agencies to a competitive level vis a vis international media outlets. Sheikh Mubarak, also Deputy Chairman of the Federation of Arab News Agencies (FANA), was speaking upon departure to the Qatari capital, Doha, heading a delegation due to take part in 39th general assembly of FANA. The federation can play a major role in support of efforts, exerted by Arab media establishments, he said. Sheikh Mubarak asserted significance of the Doha meeting, for it would host, for the first time, representatives of regional and international news agencies and unions. Eminent guests from Asia, Europe and the US will present work papers, during the convention, intended to promote tasks of the news agencies in the 21st century, the KUNA chief elaborated. Such papers can be examined to study proposals and ideas on means of advancing the sector, KUNA quoted the chairman of the national news agency as saying. Moreover, he called for signing more accords among the Arab news agencies, relevant regional and international establishments, for staying in the lead in the media development.
