The Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) has announced that a forum on plastic art in Qatar, which includes works in various fields of art such as drawing, calligraphy, sculpture, mural paintings, mosaics and ceramics, will be launched. The launch of the forum comes under the umbrella of ‘Katara Cultural Forum’ as part of Katara’s strategy to create an appropriate environment for cultural and artistic creativity as well as care for and interest in art, which recently launched a number of initiatives to achieve this strategy, including “Cultural Forum for Writers in Qatar.”The forum aims to highlight the artistic talents of the creative and promising young artists in order to sharpen their capacities, to develop them and provide them with the appropriate support to play their role to the fullest, through a sophisticated artistic environment contributing to the comprehensive development currently underway in the State of Qatar.It also aims to revitalize and develop plastic arts in Qatar towards overcoming the difficulties and challenges facing artists and people working in in the realm of plastic art and associated arts in general, in addition to highlighting the message of art, as part of Qatar National Vision 2030 to reflect the Qatari genuine values, customs and traditions, derived from the Gulf, Arab and Islamic cultural heritage, and to respond to the needs of the era and its accelerating developments in all fields. The forum will open the door for artists to discuss their production, the reality of the art scene in Qatar, the Qatari environment and the reflection of this influence on their artwork. It will also constitute the nucleus of closer ties between artists both inside Qatar and abroad, upgrade the artistic level, coordinate efforts of contacts between the competent institutions and individuals, and work for disseminating the Qatari art and culture both locally and internationally.
