The Interior Ministry dropped complaints it had filed with the public prosecution against two daily private newspapers on Monday.
The ministry waived the complaints against “Al Masry Al Youm” and “Al Youm7” newspapers lodged over news reports the two had published.
The ministry said the move was taken out of its keenness to promote bonds with the mass media.
It said there was no need to continue with the complaints after Al Youm7 published a correction on its website regarding the report in contention, which was about “terrorists attacking presidential cars during their return from Sharm El Sheikh on June 11”.
