Egypt’s journalist union has announced the national cabinet’s response to a request submitted by union chief Mamdouh el-Waly, to pay a special pension to the late Egyptian photojournalist al-Husseiny Abu Dief, after he was murdered during clashes in front of the presidential palace. The Egyptian cabinet has called on members of Dief’s family to visit the administration in order to complete the request. El-Waly reportedly demanded Egypt’s Prime Minister Hisham Kandil pay an exceptional pension to the family of Abu Dief, adding that his name be added to the list of revolutionary martyrs.
