DTH services are growing steadily in Brazil, according to a report by Anatel, the national official association regulating telecommunications. The report suggests that Brazilian pay-TV services reached a total of 12.4 million subscribers in November 2011, adding 275,597 people in the month, a sequential growth of 2.27% and 30.4% more than in the November of the previous year. Of all pay-TV technologies, DTH services were the most popular managing to engage over 229,374 new subscribers (83.2% of all new access points) while cable TV added 51,964 new clients (18.8%). The results show a marked fall in MMDS services with a dip of 5,741 subscribers. Finally, in December 2010, DTH services accounted for 45.8% of the national market and cable TV services represented 51%. Yet by the end of November, 2011, DTH's share increased to 54.1% and cable TV's decreased to 43.9% of the market; which means DTH added 1.2 million more subscribers than cable TV did.
