Jordanian Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour said on Saturday that his country has attached great importance to developing friendly ties with China, and seeks to promote their exchanges in such sectors as media and culture so as to bring bilateral ties to new high levels.
The prime minister made the remarks while meeting with He Ping, editor in chief of China's Xinhua News Agency, who is on a Mideast- tour that has already taken him to Iran and Kuwait.
Jordan looks forward to strengthening exchanges with China in various fields like politics, economy, as well as press and culture, Ensour said, adding that bilateral cooperation, with media exchange included, has seen much progress since Jordanian King Abdullah II's visit to China last year.
He also hoped that Xinhua, one of the world's most influential media group, could do more in reporting the accomplishments Jordan and other Arab nations have achieved in various sectors, and make positive efforts in promoting the friendship and mutual understanding between the two peoples.
He Ping, for his part, said Xinhua has always attached great importance to its coverage over the development and progress of Jordan's all sectors including its society and economy, and is willing to further step up these reporting so as to volume up the friendship and understanding between the Chinese and the Jordanians.
During his visit to the country, He also met with Jordan's Minister of State for Media Affairs Mohammad Momani.
