British Broadcasting Cooperation\'s (BBC) media expertise would greatly benefit the news sector at Kuwait Television especially after a decision to launch a new satellite Kuwaiti channel for news, media official said late Friday. Assistant Undersecretary of news and political programs at the Ministry of Information Yousef Mustafa made these remarks after a meeting with BBC\'s Training and development Programs\' Director Jackie Chambers, representative of the BBC training academy Mia Costello and Head of the BBC\'s International Cooperation Department and Business Development in the Middle East and West Asia Khalid Abdullah. Mustafa told KUNA that he discussed with BBC officials means of cooperation in the fields of consultancy, training and development programs to prepare the news sector\'s staff at Kuwait Television with all media expertise needed as the new Kuwaiti news channel is about be to be launched. During his visit to the BBC headquarters, Mustafa got acquainted with training and development programs related to strategic planning and management, technical and technological skills programs, television production and news editing courses. The Kuwaiti official also expressed his desire to get familiarized with the BBC\'s training courses related to economy and sports news in order to advance the level of Kuwaiti journalists and editors working on these two fields. Training programs that concerns enhancing leadership skills for senior managers and heads of departments should be focused on and looked at as well, Mustafa added. He concluded by saying that both the Kuwaiti and British officials agreed to continue exchanging visits and organizing training courses and workshops that would serve the best interest of the Kuwaiti news sector.
