The Saudi Research and Marketing Group (SRMG), the Middle East’s largest integrated publishing company, has announced the appointment of Battal Al-Qoos as editor in chief of its popular sports daily, Arriyadhiah, effective from Sept. 29.
Commenting on the appointment, SRMG Chairman Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Mohamad bin Farhan Al-Saud said: “The decision complements SRMG’s future vision of driving our titles to new heights via empowering young Saudi media leaders to meet the expectations and aspirations of the new generation who form the bulk of today’s media consumption”
Battal Al-Qoos is a name which requires no introduction when it comes to sports journalism. His experience combines radio, television and print as well as management,” he added.
“We also take this chance to thank former editor of Arriyadiah Eid Al-Thageel for his enormous efforts,” concluded SRMG’s chairman.
Al-Qoos has previously worked as a host on Riyadh radio, Saudi state television’s sports channel and was the editor-in-chief of Shams Saudi newspaper in 2005. He joined Al Arabiya in 2006 and became the head of the sports division as well as a show presenter.
Award winning sports journalist Battal Al-Qoos is renowned for his popular television show “Fi Al-Marma” on Al Arabiya. He studied at King Saud University in Riyadh, where he obtained his bachelors and a post-graduate degree in media studies.
Al-Qoos will uphold the new position in addition to his current position at Al-Arabiya.
