Ombudsman Nawaf Mohammed Al-Maawda has affirmed the Office of the Ombudsman’s interest in contacting expatriate communities in Bahrain to inform them about its duties, as well as their rights regarding the Interior Ministry’s personnel’s way of dealing with them.
He asserted the Office’s keenness to provide services to citizens and expatriates on equal footing.
He was speaking on the sidelines of an informative seminar held yesterday at the Philippines Embassy here, in the presence of the Philippines Ambassador to Bahrain Sahid S. Glang.
Head of the International Cooperation Department Fahad Abdulaziz Al-Binali spoke during the seminar, and said the event was part of the Ombudsman’s plans and social awareness-raising activities, lauched since 2013 for the aim of informing the public about its duties and services.
He informed the Philippine community that complaints can be lodged at the Interior Ministry or the five Police directorates. Complainants can also visit the premises of the Office of the Ombudsman or email their complaints.
He also highlighted the Office’s work over the past period, including the issuance of its first annual report in May, 2014.
The Philippines Ambassador welcomed members of the Office of the Ombudsman, and expressed delight at being able to contact the Office in order to be informed about its services for expatriate communities in the kingdom.
