The 5th News Agencies World Congress concluded Thursday in Baku, Azerbaijan, stressing the principle of protecting journalists’ mission.
Qatar News Agency (QNA) was represented at the Congress by its Director General Ahmed Saad Al Buainain.
The "Baku Declaration" adopted following two days of sessions put a stress on the use of new technologies for better performance by media professionals.
The Congress included several sessions on "the future of news consumption, " "News Agencies- challenges and opportunities of new technologies and social media", "News Agencies Innovation", "training journalists for multi-media future", "Protecting the journalists’ mission: freedom, access, safety and conflict zones." The participants reviewed the problems facing journalism, which is rapidly changing. They also discussed forms of cooperation among news agencies and the various platforms of social media.
AZERTAC assumes presidency of News Agencies World Congress for three years (2016-2019) The 6th Congress will take place in 2019 in Bulgaria’s capital, Sofia.
