The Honda NSX successor we’ve been waiting for has arrived at this week’s Detroit Motor Show. We had the story and exclusive images two weeks ago, and our prediction of a mid-engined hybrid was spot-on. Don’t be put off by the Acura badge on the bonnet of the car in our main picture – the NSX will initially appear as an Acura (Honda’s luxury brand for the North American market), but it has been confirmed that a Honda-badged, UK-bound version will star at March’s Geneva Motor Show. Expect the production model by the end of the year. The styling is every bit as dramatic as we’d hoped: the new NSX is characterised by sharp, angular surfaces. With its pointed bonnet edge, LED lights and origami-like air intakes, the front end has a contemporary look, while floating C-pillars add drama at the rear of the car. Honda is staying tight-lipped about the precise specification, but confirmed it will use a version of the SH-AWD system. Expect a 3.5-litre petrol V6 driving the rear wheels, plus two electric motors, producing 400bhp total. Price-wise, Honda is said to be targeting the Nissan GT-R at around £75,000 – placing the NSX in the heart of Audi R8 and Porsche 911 territory.
