Just yesterday we brought you a teaser on Lamborghini’s latest concept, which was set to be introduced at next week’s Beijing Auto Show. At the time, we speculated that it was either a sedan or an SUV, based solely on the sketch we’d been provided. Now we know that it was Lamborghini’s Urus SUV concept, seen here in all its off-road glory. Details are still pending, but Car and Driver is reporting the Urus will share a platform with other Volkswagen Group SUVs, including the VW Touareg, the Audi Q7, the Porsche Cayenne and likely even Bentley’s upcoming SUV. Powertrain options are still a matter of speculation, but either the V-10 currently used in the Lamborghini Gallardo or the twin-turbo V-8 from the current Audi S8 seem like likely options. Car and Driver thinks that a hybrid variant is possible as well, but we’re less than convinced that Lamborghini would go that particular route. Inside, expect seating for four, not five passengers. Lamborghini’s familiar center-stack toggle switches make an appearance, as does the company’s proprietary Forged Composite material, originally developed in conjunction with golf club manufacturer Callaway. We promise to bring you more information on Lamborghini’s Urus concept just as soon as it’s available.
