The facelifted Hyundai i20, due here late this year, has been spotted in cold winter testing. Despite the heavy camouflage there are a few giveaways that reveal the i20 will borrow cues from the larger i40\'s design. The Korean brand will be hoping to infuse the car with its ‘fluidic sculpture’ design language to bring the four-year-old hatch in line with the rest of the Hyundai stable. This means a fresh front fascia featuring a crossbar grille design – as seen on the i40 and Veloster – with sharper, more elongated LED headlamps as well as new taillamp clusters cementing a premium approach to the car’s appeal. The more confident, assured design is the main draw, yet the interior will also undergo a major revamp, with more chrome and hi-tech features expected to bolster the sharper-looking cabin. With such substantial cosmetic work, the current range of diesel and petrol engines, starting with the 1.2-litre 77bhp petrol unit, as well as 1.4 petrol and diesel options, are unlikely to undergo any drastic revisions, with potential changes limited to improvements in efficiency. The updated Hyundai i20 will be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March carrying a slight premium over the current car\'s £9,985 price-tag.
