Black, it seems, is the new Black! Days after BMW came out with its Black Edition M3, Volkswagen of America has announced a special edition of its new Beetle, in black, of course. Dubbed the Black Turbo Launch Edition, the Beetle with a 200bhp turbocharged 2.0-litre TSI engine will have a limited run of just 600 examples and can be only had through VW’s new Vehicle Pre-Order (VPO) programme launched in the US. Customers in the US will be able to pre-order the black beauty online for $495 reservation fee, which VW claims comes with a “no hassles” refund policy in case the customer has a change of mind. Apart from the Turbo decals along the sides, the limited edition will be set apart by 18in alloy wheels, a rear spoiler, foglights, alloy pedals, larger brakes with red calipers and a “kaeferfach” additional glovebox as in the original Beetle. The Beetle Black Turbo Edition is priced at $24,950 (Dh91,640) with an additional $770 (Dh2,900) charge for delivery.
