Volkswagen had it big at the Frankfurt show, quite literally. Its massive 8,893 square-metre stand in Hall 3 had scores of cars, including the NILS single-seater electric vehicle, half a dozen variants of the up! concept and the Beetle R among others. But none of these excited us as they’re unlikely to reach our part of the world. But there were two that we could hope to lay our hands on sometime later; the R-Line versions of the Tiguan crossover and the Polo hatch. Both the models will get exterior and interior upgrades. The Tiguan R-line features a new grille with an R logo, revised front bumper, a roof spoiler and a rear diffuser. It also comes fitted with 17in alloys. Inside, the Tiguan gets special Kyalami fabric covered seats, a black roof liner, stainless steel pedals as well as aluminium trim elements. The Polo R-line accessories include new front grille and bumpers, daytime running lights, LED license plate illumination, side skirts and chrome tailpipes. It rides on 16in alloy wheels and can also be ordered with a sport chassis, which also brings the height down by 15mm. The cabin gets Alcantara and leather upholstery, GTI sport seats, leather steering wheel, aluminum pedals and door sills. For the Polo, VW has also announced a whole new range of special exterior colours as well.
