Visitors to the Dubai International Motor Show will see interactive presentations on Toyota hybrid technology and its role in preserving the environment, saving fuel consumption and contributing towards a lower total cost of ownership. The stand will showcase Prius and Camry Hybrid, which now is part of Dubai Taxi Corporation’s fleet. “We have started to see greater interest from individuals who want to know when Toyota hybrid vehicles will be introduced to the UAE market,” said Jon William, managing director of Al-Futtaim Motors, the Toyota franchisee in the UAE. “Awareness about hybrid technology is increasing and platforms like the Dubai International Motor Show play a vital role in our educational journey,” he said. While the UAE Government has already started seeing the financial and environmental benefits of hybrid cars, individuals, who are still benefiting from low fuel prices, still need to get a better understanding of the advantages of this technology. “Not only are hybrid vehicles becoming increasingly efficient and producing lower emissions than gas-powered automobiles but their performance is also continuing to improve due to rapidly advancing technology. The fully hybrid TS030 Le Mans Race car, on display at our stand during the show, is a great example of this,” he added. Toyota has sold over 5.5 million hybrid vehicles to date and continues to extend its portfolio, currently offering 23 hybrid models in more than 80 countries across the globe. The Toyota TS030 Hybrid racing car, also to be showcased is developed under Le Mans Prototype rules. With a team based at Toyota Motorsport GmbH (TMG), Toyota made history by becoming the first manufacturer to build a team entirely around a hybrid powertrain and to enter the FIA World Endurance Championship.
