One year ago, Porsche fans were buzzing with excitement when they heard about the return of the 550. Yet, only nine months later Porsche chief Mattias Mueller took it back and said that the time might not be right. The same fans objected, and it seems Mueller changed his mind again, as the 550 revival is still good to go, only it’s been pushed back to 2017. The reason? Well, the car won’t be based on a platform shared with the Volkswagen BlueSport, which probably means VW has given up. The reason, according to Automobile Magazine, is that the two-seater would be too small and expensive to sell in the US. The new car will reportedly be offered both as a coupe and convertible. Power will come from a new turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder boxer engine that puts out 182 PS, 213 PS or 243 PS.
