London - Arabstoday

PRO Light – The number 2 was Brad Lovell\'s lucky number this weekend as he qualified 2nd fastest on Friday in his Nissan Frontier, finished 2nd in the PRO Light race on Saturday and repeated Saturday\'s performance on Sunday with another 2nd place finish in front of huge crowds at Bark River. He left Michigan in second place in PRO Light standings, trailing now by only one point. On Sunday, starting fifth, Brad worked his way through the field until he was in the lead by the half way point of the race. Brad lead the 2011 champion, Andrew Caddell, from the restart after the mandatory caution at the halfway point, but with less than one lap to go, Caddell slipped inside Brad in the sweeping \"cemetery corner\", and Brad lost the lead. While disappointed after the race, Brad was upbeat saying, \"Hey, he is the reigning champion and we ran with him so I am pleased at how strong our program is.\" PRO 2wd – On Saturday, Chad Hord and his Nissan Titan qualified second, and with the inverted start sat fifth on the grid at the start. Chad moved up to fourth, but with two laps to go suffered a broken wheel. The Hord racing team was hoping for a better day on Sunday, but that was not to be. Starting from the 8th position Chad worked his way up to 3rd place late in the race, but had his bad luck continued when he experienced a driveline failure as he was coming for the checkered flag, leaving him fifth. September 1-2: Crandon, WI (U.S.A.) PRO Light – Casey Currie is on a hot streak, and this was going to be his weekend. Nissan Frontiers were dominant in front of huge Labor Day crowds in Crandon International Off-Road Raceway. In Saturday\'s race, Currie started third, but grabbed the lead by lap three. Holding the lead through the mandatory restart, Currie created a healthy cushion in the second half and took a relatively easy win. Brad Lovell and his AMSOIL Nissan Frontier came into the race only one point out of the points lead. By taking the pole position, he gained valuable points, but had to start sixth. On the first lap, Lovell tangled with former points leader Andrew Caddell, and Caddell got the worst of it. Lovell managed to finish 4th with some body damage, and he maintained the points lead with two races to go. Sunday\'s races at the Crandon frequently saw Nissan drivers on the podium. Casey Currie made it a clean sweep in his Monster Energy Nissan Frontier PRO Light with a first place finish on Sunday in front of a record crowd of 40,000+ fans. As Casey said in victory lane – \"we didn\'t come here to run second\". Brad Lovell, now in the closest PRO Light championship battle since 2007, ran second to Currie most of the race, looked to give Nissan its first one-two finish of the year. But on the last lap, championship contender Caddell slipped past him. Brad left the \"Big House\" in the points lead nonetheless, as the series heads to California at the end of September for the final race of the 2012 season – setting up an epic battle for the crown. PRO 2wd – The PRO 2wd class would run three races this weekend, as a make-up race from a washout earlier in the season would run on Friday. In the Friday race, Chad Hord took advantage of mistakes and crashes by many in the field to grab a podium spot, finishing third. On Saturday, Chad was running second before a blistered rear tire caused him to lose traction and struggle for a 4th place finish. Sunday, Hord showed what persistence and a strong crew can do as he led the PRO 2WD race in his BOSS Snow Plow/AMSOIL Nissan Titan for all but the last 2 laps when veteran off-road race Rob MacCachren made a \"hail Mary\" pass that stuck and took the checkers first for his 200th off road win. \"This is, by far, the biggest crowd I\'ve ever seen here,\" said Nissan\'s Ron Stukenberg. \"I don\'t know where you\'d put all those people that filled up the Nissan grandstands if you hadn\'t built them!\" From Nissanglobal
